Coulthard on the move?
July 11, 2003
“Bernardi” stakeholder Bernie Ecclestone feels that David Coulthard might be better off moving to another team to re-invigorate his career. Coulthard is on track for the worse season since he came to McLaren from Williams. Bernie’s suggestion for David is much easier said than done….

A Statement from Felipe Giaffone
INDIANAPOLIS (Wednesday, July 9, 2003) — Hollywood/Mo Nunn Racing driver Felipe Giaffone is resting comfortably at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis after surgery Monday on his right leg in the wake of injuries (fractured right femur and pelvis) he suffered at Kansas Speedway during Sunday’s Kansas Indy 300. He is listed in good condition and is in the company of his wife, Alice, and manager Marcello Hirsch. His parents, Zeca and Lia Giaffone, are scheduled to arrive from Paulo, Brazil, on Thursday (July 10). He wished to issue the following statement to the racing community:
Free Ride
July 10, 2003
In an effort to promote the Silverstone G.P, Team “Bernardi” will give a ride to the minister of sport in their two seater. If they want to impress this guy, why not get him a ride in a real formula 1 car?!
Nashville Cats
July 10, 2003
Paraphrasing a lyric from the old Lovin’ Spoonful tune, the Cat’s in Nashville been drivin’ since they’s babies!
The trouble with NASCAR
July 10, 2003
I don’t know about you folks, but I am getting tired of flash in the pan drivers starting their own teams before they’ve done anything. I would think these guys would go to school on the Ricky Rudd-Bill Elliot-Bodine brothers experience and just drive. Guys like the L.C.S. Jeff Gordon have EARNED the right to an ownership position.
Cleveland Smash
July 10, 2003
According to all sources, (mostly CART) the weekend at Burke Cleveland Airport was a huge attendance success for CART. What were the TV ratings, Mr. Pook?
Without a sound TV financial package you will go the way of the DoDO.
Au Revoir, Jacques?
July 10, 2003
Gee, how could they? release Smilin’ Jack before his contract ends? But why, mon ami? He is the ultimate sportsman, no? Just take him to the finish line at the end of the next race, take his liscence away and let him walk home!! I’ve given up on the execution idea, no one has the balls anyway.
Jack Attack!
July 10, 2003
According to Mr. Roush, the Ford contingency doesn’t stand a chance with the current Ford aero and engine package in place. Chevys will dominate unless they get some help, and damn soon! Ah, life is so good sometimes!
Manning a model for the future
July 10, 2003
Darren Manning seems to be just what the doctor ordered for CART. A real racer without the attitude and arrogance. I don’t know who he paid to write this puff peice about him, but if Paul Tracy likes him…he MUST be cool. Too bad he isn’t in a more upscale operation where he can truly show his stuff and get some super results instead of the steady top ten results he seems to be capable of with Walker. For CART there is no shortage of good drivers, just fans and sponsors. Maybe more Darrens could help!
Harvick three-peat?
July 10, 2003
If Kevin Harvick can pull off a win in the Tropicana 400 this weekend at Chicagoland he will become the owner of an interesting NASCAR record. He will be the first driver to ever win the first three races in a row at a new track. What does this mean in the grand scheme of things? Not a damn thing other than this track really suits Kevin.
