Tracy’s bad blood with CART

July 27, 2003

I knew Paul Tracy and CART were butting heads a lot, especially when they took the provisional pole away from him this weekend. However I did not know they fined him $15,000 for wear short pants to a press conference!!! …

A bumpy ride at Pacific Raceways

July 27, 2003

Funny car team mates Scotty Cannon and Gary Scelzi are quite vocal about the condition of the Pacific Raceways drag strip, scene of this weekend’s NHRA event. Cannon said

“Ray Charles could see there’s speed bumps.”

I love it….

Tracy on pole

July 27, 2003

Paul Tracy apparently did not let the CART sanction from Friday provisional pole qualifying bother him. He will be starting from pole at todays Molson’ Indy Vancouver event. Bruno Junqueira starts (as allways, it seems) from second.

Is it just my perception, or is Bruno the Ralf Schumacher of Cart? He doesn’t seem able to pass the race leader or apply any pressure to the leader, especially when it’s Tracy. I think Paul has gotten to his head.

Chinese racing team launched…

July 26, 2003

Three companies involved in the development of the new Shanghai track have formed a new racing team. The objective is to eventually compete in F1. I suppose once the new dam on the Yangtze River is completed the state may have some loose change to throw at a racing team….untill they realize the dam was cheaper to build than a season of “competitive” F1 racing costs!

Tracy spanking

July 26, 2003

The ever interesting Paul Tracy has managed to fire up his opponents yet again by blocking during the first round of Molson Indycar Vancouver qualifying. CART officials have agreed with the allegations and disqulified his fastest lap and giving provisional pole to Bruno Junquira. Bruno trails Paul by 14 points and now gains a point for pole. I sure hope Paul doesn’t loose the title by a point this year to anyone. There isn’t enough Molson’s in Canada to drown out that misery!

Montoya in McLaren black?

July 26, 2003

The silly season is in full swing, and with five races to go! With his strong showing of late, German nationality, and driving a BMW powered car, it appears Ralf Schumacher has secured a contract extension. Juan is a “disappointment” to the team with his fall-off in results and is rumored to be headed to McLaren to take the slumping David Coulthard’s seat.

My question is: Who would replace Montoya at Williams? Probably some underpaid newbie.

It’s still a Chevy…

July 26, 2003

Sam the Man posted the fastest practice times at Michigan on Friday in the new Chevy branded Cosworth IRL engine package. I don’t care who makes the thing, it’s still a Chevy as far as I’m concerned. And you can be sure Sam will know what to do with the newly found power come race day. If the Chevy teams run away with the race you can look for Honda and Toyota to request upgrades on their packages, which is prohibited by the rules.

Hornish on top in a Chevy!
