Some fairly surprising comments from Terry Bradshaw regarding the firing of Kerry Earnhardt…

On the eve of destruction
August 7, 2003
Terry Blount discusses the obvious and ominous negative outlook for the future of the CART series. They all said the exact same thing about CART last year…and low and behold people showed up to race. Granted all the money that was given to teams by CART so they could run this season is gone now. However I don’t think that this group of team owners is ready to give up on the series. Their arrogance will probably see them buy it out and take heavy losses for a few years while they try to figure out what to do with this series…
Gear up for Mid-Ohio parade
August 7, 2003
After two races that were more or less destroyed buy stupid management calls, CART now heads to Mid-Ohio. Barring any strange happenings, as long as Paul Tracy and Bruno Junqueira are dialed in it should be a two car race to the pole…followed by a parade of a race. I hope not…

Another series for sale
August 7, 2003
The IRL is for sale. Fortunately not in the same manner as the rival CART series. While the cash strapped CART series is looking for a buyout, IRL is seeking a title sponsor. With NASCAR hooking up with NEXTEL, the IRL may want to look to rival cellular companies which are being kept out of NASCAR due to the NEXTEL contract. Comparatively speaking, the IRL is a bargain. The racing is great and the TV coverage is…well….it exists. All this for a mere $10 million…

Wurz back in the race?
August 7, 2003
Current McLaren test driver Alex Wurz has been linked to a ride with the BAR team in the 2004 season, replacing Jacques Villeneuve. I think an aggressive driver like Alex (given that he hasn’t gotten stale in his testing role) would be a great pairing with BAR’s young star Jenson Button…

More on “MotorRock”
August 5, 2003
GrandPrix.com offers more on the whole “MotorRock” rebranding that CART is looking to do. As I mentioned before, I don’t think the whole down town aspect of things really works. But from what they are saying now, it seems like the actual racing will take a back seat to entertainment and song and dance. Just merge with IRL so we can all go about our normal lives please!!!

Schumi slipping away
August 5, 2003
Wow…it is really hard for me to fathom. It does not look like Michael Schumacher will win the F1 Championship this year. I realize that we are back to some decent racing in F1, and that things are more exciting this way…but I just got so used to him winning everything all the time. Let’s not count him out totally yet…
