At last the racing marshals are taking note of the infamous “Schui Swerve” and imposing a ten position penalty at the next race. No, it wasn’t Michael guilty of the infraction, but the “Little Schu” that took out Rubens and Kimi and himself in the first turn of today’s race.

Now we will hear some serious whinning from the Williams team and of course from Ralf himself. Let’s see if he has the character to own up to the responsibilty!

Montoya wins German Grand Prix

Juan Montoya won the German Grand Prix to gain his third career victory today. Ralf Schumacher, Rubens Barrichello and Kimi Raikkonen were all taken out of the race via and incident at the start. Raikkonen spun off the track and sustained a heavy hit into the tire barriers and was taken to the medical center for a check up, but should be fine.

Michael Schumacher had a tire go down with just 4 laps to go while running in 4th place. He would finish in 7th. Jarno Trulli how came in third was visibly drained after the race most likely due to the extreme heat in Germany today. Jarno missed the post-race press conference.

Bob Latford - A Friend To Racing

Bob Latford, one of the pioneers of NASCAR, was laid to rest last Wednesday.

In case you never met or heard of him, Latford was there for the beach races, selling programs and lemonade with his brothers. He served in Korea then came back to continue his lifelong love affair with the sport, serving as publicist for NASCAR, Darlington, Charlotte, Atlanta, Budweiser, Shell and numerous others. He was there in the press box and sometimes driving the pace car all through the 50s and 60s when the sport was in its infancy and childhood. He developed the current point system, replacing one that nobody understood. He was the sport’s historian, most recently writing the ARCA 50th anniversary book but also author of numerous other books on the sport…

Andretti fastest in first practice

Providing more proof of Kyle Petty’s incompetence, John Andretti (who Kyle fired from the 43 car over a month ago) posted the fastest practice time in his DEI #81 during the first session leading up to Sunday’s Brickyard 400. Hopefully it won’t rain and John will get a chance to post a good qualifying time.
