Michael Schumacher has had another dissappointing session ending up in 6th. Similarly the McLaren team mates of Kimi Raikkonen and David Coulthard ended up 5th and 10th respectively.

Team rivalry can be a good thing
August 1, 2003
Usually in F1 team rivalry means team mates wrecking eachother out of races. However, in the case of Jaguar it looks like a little rivalry is a very good thing.
Jaguar’s new driver Justin Wilson started off his German Grand Prix weekend on a high note with a seventh place provisional qualifying position. However, in what should be the best team rivalry on the circuit for the remainder of the season, Mark Webber answered back with an impressive 4th place. We’ll see if these boys can keep this up tomorrow when it really counts.

Villeneuve still blaming others
August 1, 2003
Jacques Villeneuve is now blaming the BAR team management for his poor reputation in F1. Unreal! Does his attitude towards his fellow racers and his awful race performance occur to him at all as other reason which could, just maybe, have contributed to him being known as the overpaid cry baby who can’t get it done? It is NEVER his fault. This guy does not know the meaning of team. Anyone (especially Jacques himself) who thinks this guy could get a ride with Ferrari (the definition of a great team) is really in the dark.

FIA to study what makes racing exciting
August 1, 2003
Amazing. The FIA is now doing a “deep dive” into why the racing at the British Grand Prix was so darn entertaining. This is classic bureaucracy at work. Why do we need to do a study here? It’s pretty simple as far I can tell. A guy ran across the track brining out a safety car which jostled the field up and gave us an interesting running order. Then David Coulthard’s cockpit shroud flew off and again the safety car came out. Two totally unexpected things happened that screwed up everyone’s strategy and people had to actually race to gain position instead or relying on strategy….
Potential future of CART series
August 1, 2003
With its finances in dismal shape and speculation as to wether there is enough funding to complete the entire 2004 season, there is now news of a buyout. CART team owners will buy the series out and re-launch it under a whole new concept where the series would run in big markets on city street courses and be combined with rock concerts.
I really like the idea of pairing rock with racing, but I still don’t buy the whole “big market” and “city streets” component. If I lived in a big city I would rather drive out to the country for a race on a Sunday that deal with a race series blocking off the streets downtown and messing up my commute for a week. But hey that’s just me…and all the other miserable people who commute along side me every morning and night.
