Ralf can’t recall crash
September 8, 2003
And that, race fans, is exactly why he should be kept out of the car this weekend. As our esteemed editor-in-chief can attest to, loss of memory after a head injury is a sure sign serious damage was done. Then climbing into a car and applying several lateral G’s over and over to that same noggin is courting disaster.

Ralf suffering from crash concussion
September 8, 2003
Will Ralf race this weekend? If he is suffering headaches as reported, he should be kept out of the seat for his own, and fellow racers, good. Any chance of that happening? I doubt it.

And the fines keep adding up
September 8, 2003
NASCAR announced sweeping fines, suspensions, and probations for all participants in the post race festivities at this weekends Chevy’s Rock ‘n Roll 400 at Richmond. Seems to me that with the money these folks are making, the fines are rather a joke. Start confiscating the winnings from the event they just ran, and a few people will start to take notice.

Shades of Formula 1?

Traction control? What traction control?? If there is any truth to allegations that teams are using traction control, I would not be surprised at all. Especially with all of the end of race cautions of late. A good restart could be the difference between a win and a finish in the top ten.

…and nets fourth place at the Chicagoland Delphi Indy 300 this weekend. Deep down inside, don’t you think this is eating Michael Andretti’s insides away? You have to know he will pull an Eddie Cheever and be back in the car next year. If he doesn’t Mario may talk himself into a ride!

Hornish wins at Chicagoland
September 7, 2003
When Sam Hornish got the new Chevy Gen VI engine at Michigan in late July he had been having a miserable season compared the prior two. Armed with that new Chevy power a ray of hope for the champion’s season shone brightly as he dominated the race in Michigan only to have it snatched from him at the last second by Alex Barron.
However, the statement was made and Hornish knew what he had to do if he wanted to defend his championship for a third year in a row….win almost every race left on the schedule. The following race at Kentucky, Sam delivered. He delivered again today at Chicagoland in what can be considered an inspiring late season victory and title defense. Further aiding in keeping Sam’s title hopes alive was points leader Helio Castroneves’ car breaking down following a late pit stop.
The race featured the closest 1-2-3 finish in series history with Sam just edging out Scott Dixon in second and Bryan Herta in third…
