Newman makes it 6 at Richmond
September 6, 2003
Ryan Newman won his 6th race of the season tonight at Richmond. The smooth consistent run was typical of what Newman does when he can stay out of trouble. There was plenty of trouble on the track and off as Kevin Harvick had a post race scuffle with Ricky Rudd, and Robby Gordon had choice words for Jeff Burton who spun him. Burton was apologetic, taking responsibility for the spin. Notable was Jeremy Mayfield’s second place finish, by far his best of the season…

It’s not about the money…
September 6, 2003
…it’s about the power and ambition. The fact that Dale Earnhardt Jr. is STILL not signed by DEI is a sure sign that Teresa Earnhardt is in a battle of wills with Jr. over the future of DEI. Sponsor Budweiser has not signed with DEI and are waiting to see where Jr. goes. In these days of disappearing sponsors can a team owner risk losing Budweiser? Jr should be paid top dollar for his contribution to the team, it shouldn’t even be an issue. And it probably isn’t.

Nemechek upset…
September 6, 2003
…with the timing of the annoucement of his release at seasons end. Here I thought he’d be upset with having “Uncle Cracker” painted all over his car tonight! I guess when you’re looking for a ride next year you have to show potential sponsors you can put up with almost anything.

What’s next in marketing?
September 6, 2003
It should be all about the racing. Okay, once in a while a fist fight or two. When not watching the race, shouldn’t the fans be walking the track and buying souveniers? The next thing you know the’re going to create half time at the Daytona 500 to put on a show!!! And waste time televising it, of course.
