Sadler OK After Huge Wreck

Elliott Sadler was released after examination at the University of Alabama-Birmingham Medical Center on Sunday night following his “big-air” wreck on Lap 182. Elliot’s car spun around as he came across the front of Kurt Busch at about 190 mph. When the car spun around and got airborne it was traveling about 162 mph according to the TV telemetry. The car then landed on its roof and slid through the grass before catching again and flipping 5 times back UP the track banking. Elliot was helped from the car but stood on his own after being pulled from the wreck…

Michael Waltrip held off his teammate for the final five laps of the EA Sports 500 following a red flag brought out when Elliott Sadler flipped and rolled on the back straight. Earnhardt finished second, with Tony Stewart recovering from the migraine headache he suffered Saturday to finish third.

Talladega, AL - Johnny Benson headed “Happy Hour” in the final practice for NASCAR’s Winston Cup competitors. Leading to Sunday’s EA Sports 500 at Talladega Superspeedway, he turned in a best time of 48.889 sec/195.872 mph in the Nr 10 Valvoline Pontiac. Just .011 sec behind Benson was Jeremy Mayfield’s Dodge at 48.900/195.828.
