Pollock and Jordan
October 3, 2003
The article below starts with “There are rumours that Craig Pollock could be looking at the possibility of coming back to Formula 1 to revive the troubled Jordan team.” Can someone explain to me what Craig Pollock has done that would lead anyone to believe that he could revive anything? What has Craig Pollock DONE? He basically took the thriving career of a Formula 1 World Champion (Jacques Villeneuve) and led it astray to a team of his own development. That team hasn’t shown any sign of success until this year, when Jacques is beyond his prime. I think we can all assume that Jacques has “ridden it out” at BAR due to Pollocks counsel right? After all he is his “manager”…his CART venture is still up in the air…

Johnson Nabs Pole In Kansas
October 3, 2003
Jimmie Johnson took the pole for the Banquet 400 and the track record at Kansas Speedway with a lap of 180.373 mph. Cool cloudy conditions provided the perfect environment for 18 cars, including Jimmie, to break last year’s qualifying record of 177.924 set by Dale Earnhardt, Jr. Junior will start 3rd on Sunday. Jeff Gordon, who is trying to complete the trifecta at Kansas (winning the first three NASCAR events ever held at a track) will start 5th…

Schumacher Going For Record
October 3, 2003
We now re-join our previously scheduled Lucas Oil Nationals at Maple Grove Raceway…Tony Schumacher will be gunning for the fastest pass in NHRA history this weekend. Before the event was postponed by rain after first roung qualifying three weeks ago, Tony has busted out a 4.465-second qualifying run…the fastest in NHRA history. However in order for the record to be official he’ll need to pull off a 4.509-second or better run at some point this weekend. Can he do it? Given the hot streak “The Sarge” has been on lately, you just might think so…

Renna to Ganassi in 2004
October 2, 2003
Chip Ganassi has signed Tony Renna to drive the car currently campaigned by Tomas Scheckter for the 2004 season. This is a somewhat surprising move considering other more experienced talent available (Herta, Barron, etc). However, Tony’s good relationship with Dixon is a key factor. Tomas will be better off at a one car operation such as Panther, where he can be “top dog”…

Who’s in the #43 This Week?
October 2, 2003
Better question, why do we care? It seems that no matter who gets behind the wheel of “The King’s” famous #43, the results are always the same…poor. It is a far larger sickness that ails that car and team than who is steering the car each weekend. Nonetheless, Petty Enterprises will pin its hopes on Jeff Green to drive the #43 car this weekend in Kansas…
