Martinsville, VA - Oct. 19, 2003 - Jeff Gordon, dominant after starting from pole, led 311 of today’s 500 lap Subway 500 to sweep both NASCAR Winston Cup races at the Southern Virginia oval. Gordon’s feat matched that last done by Rusty Wallace at Martinsville in 1994 of winning both races at a track from pole position. “Can we race at Martinsville every weekend?” asked Gordon after the race.
