GM Announces Support for IRL Engine Change

Detroit, Dec. 17, 2003 - GM Racing Director Doug Duchardt voiced GM’s strong support for revisions in the Indy Racing League IndyCar Series engine rules announced on Dec. 16. Effective at the 2004 Indianapolis 500, maximum engine displacement will be reduced from 3.5 liters to 3.0 liters. In the three IRL events preceding the Indianapolis 500, the engine air scoops will be vented to reduce performance. The move from 3.5-liter (214 cubic-inch) to 3.0-liter (183ci) engines is expected to reduce output by approximately 10 percent.
2004 Tonka Super Truck Racing Series Schedule Announced

Super Trucks will run six races with the American Le Mans Series, ESPN2 to broadcast races.
New Albany, OH — The Super Truck Racing Association of North America (STRANA) announced today the schedule for the 2004 Tonka Super Truck Racing Series. The Super Trucks will once again race in support of the American Le Mans Series (ALMS), running in six of the nine 2004 ALMS events. In 2003, the three Tonka Super Truck Celebrity Challenge exhibition races were part of the ALMS events at Road America in Elkhart Lake, WI and Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta.
