Gene hoping for Montoya seat

January 6, 2004

While Williams test driver Marc Gené was impressive when he stood in for Ralf Schumacher at the Italian Grand Prix in 2003, I don’t think he has a chance at getting Juan’s seat with Jenson Button waiting in the wings at BAR…but that all depends on how young Jenson looks this year…

Williams Reveal Wild Car Design For 2004

January 5, 2004

2004williams.jpgWe’ve seen F1 cars launched year after year that are lauded as “radical” or “ground breaking” in technology and design, but look mostly the same as last year’s car. However, BMW Williams have decided to change the paradigm a bit for 2004 with specific regard to aerodynamics. Form your own opinions about aesthetics, but (after you get over the initial shock) the design looks to make sense as the next evolution of the “high-nose” F1 car. Hey…you aren’t going to beat Ferrari by doing what didn’t work last year over again…

Speed channel Complaint

January 4, 2004

This is an indicator of why Speed channel doesn’t get better ratings. Nascar coverage has gotten so dominant that some people resent coverage of other forms of racing. After all, the name is “Speed channel”, not “Nascarchannel”, though at times you’d be hard pressed not to come to that conclusion.

Personally I would rather watch a ten year old F1 race with Ayerton Senna being harassed by a rookie Eddie Irvine (who after the race got decked by Ayerton) then mindless off-season dribble about Nascar. As my favorite form of racing, the loss of F1 from TV coverage would be shattering.

Eddie, Say It Ain’t So

January 4, 2004

Unless Jacques is bringing bushels of cash to the team, why would you sign the “Prince of Whine” to your team? There is nothing JV can do for you, he is only looking to keep his hand in the game at your expense, Eddie. But you know that don’t you?
