Gentilozzi “Slides” To Trans-Am Win At Long Beach

April 18, 2004

gentilozzi_head.jpgPart Champ Car ower, part Trans-Am driver Paul Gentilozzi showed that he is not ready for a desk job running the two series just yet. He worked his way past two of the sports top vertans to claim a win at Long Beach today. One of those veterans was his newly signed Rocket Sports Racing team driver Tommy Kendall.

“It was not my plan to get ahead of Tommy but I got into the marbles and just slid into the lead, did not mean to get into Tommy,” explained Paul Gentilozzi.

Rusty Wallace Cements Martinsville Win

April 18, 2004

Rusty Wallace, holding off a determined challenge from Bobby Labonte and avoiding a hole in the track’s concrete turns, won his first race in 105 NASCAR events at Martinsville. Pole-winner Jeff Gordon had his domination of the race ended when a large chunk of concrete from the third turn broke loose and damaged the right-front corner of his Chevy.

Newman-Haas Fill The Long Beach Front Row

Ralf Schumacher says the Williams F1 car has been improved through 3500 km of testing the past three weeks, but don’t expect any “miracles” against Ferrari. At least in Ralf’s case, a clean and fast effort would be a miracle in it’s own right!

From Pole To Victory Lane

April 17, 2004

Dan Wheldon earned his first IRL victory, as well as earning Honda their first win at their home track, Twin Ring Motegi. All in all it was a dominating performance for Andretti Green Racing, with Tony Kanaan finishing second, Dario Franchitti seventh and Bryan Herta fourteenth. The race left one overwhelming question: Where are you Team Penske? After Sam Hornish’s somewhat giddy season opening win, not much has come from that side of the team, even though Castroneves managed a third place finish yesterday.
