What could possibly earn Kimi Raikkonen the change in nick-names? Maybe the fact that he kept his foot on the throttle when he knew the Mercedes engine was ailing during the Bahrain Grand Prix. Literally pouring gasoline onto a growing fire. Could anyone blame the lad? Why suffer the indignity of limping around the track in a car with a crap motor? A few laps from the end with a chance to gain points would be different, such as happened to JPM. He gained no points, but he had to try.

INDIANAPOLIS — The Motorock Trans-Am Series’ only four-time Drivers’ Champion, Tommy Kendall, is scheduled to appear on SPEED Channel’s popular call-in show “Wind Tunnel” with host Dave Despain Wednesday, April 14. Kendall, who signed on to drive the No. 11 Jaguar R Performance in the Trans-Am Series this year, will discuss his return to the driver’s seat after his retirement in 1997.
Ward Burton Uninjured in Road Crash

PHOENIX, Ariz. (April 11, 2004) — Max Angelelli held off Scott Pruett in the closing laps of the Food City 250 at Phoenix International Raceway to give SunTrust Racing its first-ever Rolex Sports Car Series win on Saturday night.
Angelelli took the wheel of the No. 10 Pontiac Riley early in the race when Wayne Taylor brought it in during the second full-course caution. Angelelli then piloted the No. 10 Pontiac into second-place and claimed the lead when polesitter Max Papis pitted on lap 82 to hand the CompUSA Chip Ganassi Racing No. 01 Lexus Riley over to Pruett.

PHOENIX, Ariz. (April 10, 2004) — The CompUSA Chip Ganassi Racing team swept the front row during qualifying for the Food City 250 at Phoenix International Raceway. The team’s No. 01 Lexus Riley Daytona Prototype took its third Rolex Sports Car Series pole of the season in as many races.
Walker Helps Gentilozzi Keep The 18-Car Promise

Paul Gentilozzi will get to keep his promise of an 18 car field for the 2004 Champ Car World Series - thanks to Champ Car veteran team owner Derek Walker. Walker Racing has announced it will run the 2004 Champ Car season with Brazilian driver Mario Haberfeld. This will be Haberfeld’s second year in Champ Cars having driven for Conquest racing last season. He will drive the Walker #5 Cummins-sponsored Reynard/Ford- Cosworth/Bridgestone car.
