While Not Perfect, Monterrey Is A Step In the Right Direction
May 23, 2004
In my opinion the Champ Car series still has a few kinks to work out of its system, but overall today”s race in Monterrey, Mexico was a right step in this series” road to rehabilitation.
The Race
Today’s race was a bit confusing and not short on action. Several cautions on top of the mandatory pit stops made pit strategy a big part of Bourdais’ successful victory of his teammate Bruno Junqueira. Pit strategy also played a role in the highlight of the day for the Mexican fans, countrymen Mario Dominguez’ 3rd place finish. After spinning out and stalling on the second lap of the race he made an early pit stop on lap 18 shuffling the order in his favor - very lucky boy.

INDIANAPOLIS — Quotes from 1996-97 Indy Racing League and 2002 NASCAR champion Tony Stewart, who suited up for a possible Bump Day qualifying attempt May 23 for the 88th Indianapolis 500 in an A.J. No Bump Bump Day
May 23, 2004
What in the hell is the boy babbling about now, you may ask? Today was Bump Day qualifying at the IMS for next weekend’s Indy 500. In years gone by several teams would have gone home with an empty feeling as they had qualified, only to get “Bumped Off” the grid by faster, late qualifying teams.

Mont Carlo GP Results….
May 23, 2004
…and no, Michael Schumacher did not win, he didn’t even finish the race. I am trying to sort out the more important headline; Trulli’s magnificent drive to his first win, or Michael’s retirement due to a stupid incident in the tunnel under caution. I will have to go with Trulli’s victory. Although leading at the time of his accident, Michael had yet to make his pit stop, while Jarno and Jenson had came in under the caution. Michael’s retirement did cause a certain lack of excitement, as I was looking forward to see what kind of pressure the Champion could have brought on the leaders.
