Daytona Getting ‘SAFER’ Barriers

Daytona International Speedway has begun installation of the SAFER (Steel And Foam Energy Reduction) barriers. At the media demonstration of their installation recently at Lowe’s Motor Speedway, Gary Nelson stated that the barriers seem to have reduced G-force loadings by up to 70%, compared to similar impacts on the older barriers.

Hunter-Reay Wins Milwaukee Flag-To-Flag

Ryan Hunter-Reay drove his Herdez Competition Lola/Ford Champ Car to a dominating win at Milwaukee on Saturday night. Hunter-Reay led every single lap of the race. This was the first time a Champ Car driver has completed that feat since Bobby Rahal did it in 1992. Ryan also set a new Champ Car record for most laps led in a race. This was Ryan’s second career victory having won the final race of the 2003 season.
