SCCA Spec Miata Challenge to Support ALMS at Lime Rock

The New England Region of the Sportscar Club of America and Toyo Tires have announced a Pro Spec Miata race during Lime Rock Park’s American LeMans Series New England Grand Prix on July 5, 2004. A full field of 40+ cars is expected for the race on the 1.5 mile road course. The race will take place at 12:30pm on Monday, July 5, 2004.

MADISON, Ill. — Doug Kalitta moved into the Top Fuel points lead with a victory Sunday at the Sears Craftsman NHRA Nationals at Gateway International Raceway.
Gary Scelzi, Greg Anderson and Steve Johnson also were winners at the $1.8 million race, the 12th of 23 events in the $50 million NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series.

Castroneves On Richmon Pole; 11 Drivers Break Track Record

Helio Castroneves turned a lap of 171.202mph (15.7708 seconds) to win his fifth career pole position and most recent since last September at California Speedway. The two time Indy 500 winner led a pack where 11 of the starters broke the previous track record set by Gil de Ferran in 2002 qualifying (168.705 mph). Buddy Rice and Mark Taylor will roll off in second and third respecitvely.
