Meira Still Speedy, Takes Milwaukee Pole

Vitor Meira topped MBNA Pole qualifying today for Sunday’s Menards AJ Foyt Indy 225 at The Milwaukee Mile. Meira and his Rahal/Letterman Racing teammate Buddy Rice have been fast throughout the second quarter of the season having qualified 1st & 2nd for Nashville and 1st & 3rd at Kansas. However in both of those events it was Rice on pole. Today Vitor has his well earned day in the sun.

For those of you F1 fans whose favorite new hobby is figuring out Michael’s latest obscure yet amazing record breaking stat, this pole represents his 100th Grand Prix where he will start from the front row. Most drivers make a big deal about starting 100 Grand Prix…this guy has 100 front row starts.

Ryan Newman beat all opponents in practice and in qualifying for Sunday’s NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Siemens 300. He had one opponent noone ever beats though-Mother Nature. Fortunately, she held off the fast-approaching rains until just a couple of minutes after he made his qualifying run at New Hampshire International Speedway.
