IRL points leader Tony Kanaan notched his third win of the 2004 IRL season, beating Sam Hornish to the line. Hornish made a move on Kanaan on the back stretch in the final lap, but couldn’t pull it off and lost momentum. In somewhat of a resurgence for Penske, Hornish’s teammate Helio Castroneves came home third.

Sonoma, CA - Dale Earnhardt Jr. took a seat this afternoon during American Le Mans Series qualifying. Co-driver Boris Said made the two lap qualifying run under a new single car format to put the No. 8 Chevrolet Corvette C5-R third in the GTS class for Sunday’s ALMS Infineon Grand Prix of Sonoma.
