A1 Grand Prix Unveils Final Spec Car

London, 30th September. Just six months after the launch of A1 Grand Prix in Dubai, series founder and CEO, His Highness Sheikh Maktoum Hasher Maktoum Al Maktoum, announces the signing of the first six national seat holders and unveils the final specification of the A1 Grand Prix car.

The United Kingdom, South Africa, China, Portugal, Pakistan and the Lebanon are the first countries to have secured their seats for the unique winter one-make championship commencing in Autumn 2005.

Andretti, Johnson Head Charlotte Tests Again

John Andretti and Jimmie Johnson led the unofficial speed parade at Lowe’s Motor Speedway Wednesday night as 26 NEXTEL Cup and Busch Series teams wrapped up NASCAR testing for UAW-GM Quality 500 Week on Oct. 13-16.

The unofficial stopwatches caught Andretti’s No. 14 ppc Racing Ford at 181.751 mph, just a tick faster than the lap he recorded to top the NEXTEL Cup speed chart during Tuesday night’s testing session.

Enge Replaces Jacques Lazier At Patrick Racing

tomas_enge_headshot2004.jpgTainted racer Tomas Enge has signed on to replace Jacques Lazier at Patrick Racing for the final two races of the IRL’s 2004 season. Enge was the Formula 3000 champion in 2002 and made a few F1 starts with the Prost team before his F3000 title was stripped when he tested positive for cannabis at the Hungarian GP.

Every drag racer with dreams of running the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series hopes that one day his or her phone will ring and it is a team owner asking for help. Morgan Lucas got that phone call back in July but it wasn’t the circumstances he would have preferred. With the tragic passing of popular Top Fuel driver Darrell Russell, team owner Joe Amato brought in Morgan Lucas and his first race was in Brainerd, Minn. Lucas will only compete in eight races for the remainder of the season and will use this time to prepare for a title run next season. Knowing he would be stepping into a championship caliber car, should Lucas have waited until next year in order to better his chances of being named the 2005 Rookie of the Year?

NASCAR Teleconference - Ryan Newman and Michael Waltrip

Our guest this afternoon is Ryan Newman. He is the driver of the No. 12 ALLTEL Dodge. He is also fresh off a victory at Dover, his second win this season, I think, Ryan if I do my math right. He ranks 8th right now in the Chase for the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup heading into Talladega.

Ryan has two top ten finishes in five events at Talladega. He finished 11th in the spring race there.
