NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series crew chief Jimmy Fennig was fined $1,000 for a fuel cell spacer infraction that occurred at last weekend’s NASCAR NEXTEL Cup event at New Hampshire International Speedway and crew chief Robbie Reiser received the identical fine for the same infraction at the Sept. 11 event held at Richmond International Raceway, NASCAR officials announced today.

A memo leaked from Molson Canada suggested the future of the Molson Indy Champ Car race in Vancouver might be in doubt. Of the three Canadian stops on the Champ Car circuit only one, Montreal, has a contract for the next two years. Both the Vancouver and Toronto contracts have expired.

The driver of the No. 17 DeWalt Ford and the defending premier series champion Matt Kenseth is currently fourth in the Chase for the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup, 10 points behind leader Dale Earnhardt, Jr. Matt earned the only pole of his premiere series career at Dover in the spring of 2002. He has three top five and six top ten finishes over all in 11 career races at the Monster Mile. He finished ninth in this race one year ago and was 22nd in the spring event when an accident ended his day just 19 laps from the finish.

Matt comes to Dover after a second place finish in Round 1 of the Chase for the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup at New Hampshire last Sunday. That was his eighth top five and the 16th top ten of 2004 to go along with two victories thus far this season for Matt Kenseth.
