Earnhardt Appeal Denied

Monday, word came down that (pictured here at Charlotte last weekend) Dale Earnhardt Jr’s appeal of his penalty for ‘use of improper language’ following Talladega was denied. The National Stock Car Racing Commission weighed the appeal and unanimously upheld the penalties. Following is the text of the release announcing the decision:

Helio Castroneves finally got his first win of the 2004 season, but he had to wait until the very last race. He and Tony Kanaan celebrated the end of the 2004 IRL Championship today in style, with Kanaan having clinched the series title in the previous race at California Speedway.

Monterey, CA - Timo Bernhard and Ian James earned American Le Mans Series driving championships Saturday as Johnny Herbert and Pierre Kaffer won the season-ending Audi Sports Car Championships event at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.
Johnson Completes 2004 Charlotte Sweep

Jimmie Johnson led only 35 of the 334 laps in the UAW-GM Quality 500 at Lowe’s Motor Speedway on his way to a sweep of the races here this season. Jeff Gordon, Johnson’s teammate and co-owner, finished second while Dale Earnhardt Jr took third. Kurt Busch took fourth as point leader and last week’s double-winner Joe Nemechek took fifth. Rookie Kasey Kahne dominated the race, leading 207 laps before his car slammed the Turn Two wall after a tire apparently failed.
Bill Elliott Gets Stanley Tools Backing in ‘05

Team owner Ray Evernham joined forces with his drivers Kasey Kahne and Jeremy Mayfield to announce a sponsorship from Stanley Tools. The new deal will put the brand on a car driven by Bill Elliott in four races next season as primary sponsor and on the other EMS cars all year as associate sponsor.
