Notes & Quotes - Kansas Speedway
October 10, 2004
Collected notes and quotes from various drivers during and following Sunday’s Banquet Foods 400 NASCAR race. JEFF GORDON, NO. 24 DUPONT CHEVROLET MONTE CARLO (IT WAS AN UP AND DOWN DAY FOR YOU) “We put ourselves in a hole on Friday when we qualified 30th. We just never could really get a handle on things this weekend. The car just never really gave me that feel I was looking for. And we fought hard. I’m proud of these guys and the effort that they put into it. It looked like maybe we were going to pull a top 10 out of it. We tried to do some different pit strategy and different things. It almost paid off for us but when (Ricky) Rudd got sideways going into Turn 1 it slowed us all down and all those guys with fresh tires had the momentum and once they caught us we were in trouble. But we didn’t lose too much in the points and it was a tough 13th place finish for us and we’re looking forward to going to Charlotte next weekend.”
