We all saw the NBA’s “Motown Throw Down”? repeatedly shown on news channels all across the country. Images of NBA player Ron Artest going into the stands to throw haymakers at Detroit fans ran across our TV screens non stop. The NHRA has its own “bad boy” in Whit Bazemore and a recent fine and probation by the NHRA will try to keep him under control for at least a little while.

Rick Hendrick (shown here at Charlotte in May) appeared at the track for the first time since the tragic day at Martinsville where an airplane carrying his brother, nieces, son and several team employes, including engine wizard Randy Dorton, crashed. The crash killed all ten people on board the Hendrick Motorsports King Air 200. Facing the media assembled in the Media Center, Hendrick expressed his gratitude to everyone who offered their support to his family and teams:
