Greg Biffle led the first of two practice sessions Saturday morning at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Preparations for the Ford 400, final NASCAR NEXTEL Cup race of the 2004 season saw Greg Biffle, outside pole sitter for the race, clock a lap of 30.763 sec/175.536 mph, a scant .009 sec ahead of Jimmie Johnson’s Chevrolet. KURT BUSCH POLE-WINNING PRESS CONFERENCE - WHAT STATEMENT DOES THIS MAKE? “First and foremost, is this Friday? I never knew we could do things like this on Friday. I’m somewhat puzzled at how we’re able to do so well - just a great balanced race car that we scienced out with what tires we needed to put on it as far as stickers or scuffs, and then as far as the tempo on what to push hard during qualifying. Everything fell into place for us.”
