In an Amsterdam champagne press gathering today, Minardi announced that Christijan Albers will be one of the team’s drivers for the 2005 Formula One season. Sponsorship details were not announced but should be announced late in January. Albers most recently drove for the factory Mercedes team in the DTM (German Touring Car) and finished third in the standings with one win and six podium places in 2004. The move should increase flagging Dutch interest in Formula One following the departure of Jos Verstappen.
Coulthard Gets 1-Year Career Extension from Red Bull

In a highly anticipated move, Red Bull Racing announced today that it has signed David Coulthard to a one-year contract. Coulthard, by no means a spring chicken as far as F1 goes, is lucky to have gotten this ride as it was most likely his last hope at a decent ride for next season. There is still no word on who his teammate will be, though it is most likely to be the sophomore Austrian Christian Klien.
