So with four races in the 2005 NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series in the books, Densham has struggled a ton in the early going. Either we were not told the real reason why Densham split with John Force or Densham forgot how hard it had been for him before he joined John Force Racing. Either way, Densham might be regretting that decision in light of his showing this season.

Jeff Gordon took his second victory of the 2005 season by winning the Advance Auto Parts 500 at Martinsville Raceway. He came back from three laps down, passing the leader twice under racing conditions and earning one “lucky dog” pass onto the lead lap before taking advantage of traffic to move into the lead late in the race and stay there, holding off Kasey Kahne’s challenge. Jeff Gordon, overcoming fate that put him three laps down early in the race, held off Kasey Kahne to win Sunday’s Advance Auto Parts 500 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup race. The win was Gordon’s fifth at the tiny paperclip-shaped half mile and his career 71st.

BAYTOWN, Texas — Tony Schumacher’s 4.495-second pass from Friday night held up Saturday and the defending Top Fuel world champion will enter Sunday’s final eliminations as the top qualifier at the O’Reilly NHRA Spring Nationals at Houston Raceway Park.

The man who has vowed to “take it back” this season, has started off right. Former series champ Paul Tracy will start the Long Beach Grand Prix from pole today after turning a record lap. Tracy ran the course in 1 minute, 7.485 seconds beating Gil de Ferran’s 2000 record of 1:07.494.
