ESPN, the self-proclaimed “Worldwide Wide Leader in Sports”, should change their tag line to “The Worldwide Leader in Self-promotion”. Between the litanies of commercials you see on this network is a barrage of promos and advertisements touting programs the network will air in the next couple of days or weeks. Have you seen that really funny and creative commercial on ESPN promoting the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series? You haven’t? I guess that is because there are none and instead that air time is used to promote the WNBA, the World Series of Poker, the Great Outdoors Games, professional bowling, X Games and even competitive eating.
