Atlanta Motor Speedway Suffers Over $40 million in Storm Damage

Atlanta Motor Speedway was one of the targets of severe storms described as “funnel clouds” Wednesday night. The storms were the aftermath of Hurrican Cindy’s passae through the area. The five full-time residents of condos at the speedway were evacuated safely. The press box front wall was almost completely blown away and many of the track’s luxury suites suffered severe damage.

Lehto, Werner Return To Winning Ways In New England Grand Prix

Kanaan Wins Kansas, Barely

It was another classic IRL finish today at Kansas Speedway with Tony Kanaan beating his AGR teammate Dan Wheldon by 0.0120 of a second. Vitor Meira, who came in second to his teammate Buddy Rice last year, came home third with a desperate banzai attempt below the white line as the trio crossed the start finish.

Daytona Pepsi 400 Quotes

Thanks to our usual collection of team and manufacturer sources, here’s a collection of quotes from last night’s (this morning’s actually!) Pepsi 400 at Daytona. Tony Stewart continued his run of good drives with a dominant perfornance at Daytona. Stewart led 151 of the 160 laps. The race started 2 1/2 hours late after rain soaked the track Saturday afternoon. After the race, Stewart played ‘Spiderman’ and climbed the fence to wave at the crowd from inside the starter’s box.

Stewart Dominant in Rain-Delayed Daytona

Tony Stewart came off his domination last week at Infineon Raceway’s road course to dominate the Pepsi 400 at Daytona’s superspeedway, leading 151 of the race’s 160 laps. The race start was delayed about two and a half hours by rain, then turned into a ‘Smoke’ benefit. Following the finish, Stewart not only stopped at the Start/Finish line to collect the checkered flag but he climbed the fence and clambered onto the starter’s stand to wave to the crowd in celebration. “Yeah, but I’m too damn’ fat to be climbing fences,” quipped the ecstatic winner in Victory Lane.
