Tony Stewart continued his display of versatility, winning the pole over Scott Riggs. Road race specialist Boris Said, driving the No. 36 Chevrolet, qualified fourth.
‘Smoke’ Smokes Daytona Qualifying

Tony Stewart continued his strong drive beginning last Sunday at Infineon Raceway by outrunning the rest of the field in qualifying for Saturday night’s Pepsi 400. Fresh off his win at Infineon, Stewart set pole at Daytona with a lap of 48.496 sec / 185.582 mph. In Thursday night’s Brumos Porsche 250 for the Grand American Road Racing Association’s Daytona Prototype racers, Stewart continued to show his versatility, co-driving one of the Pontiac-powered Crawfords in the road race.

You remember the bible story of Noah and his Ark? The guy that was told to round up all the animals two by two before the great flood. It seems that Don Schumacher is turning into Noah with two of everything the NHRA has to offer. He apparently was not satisfied with three Funny Cars, two Pro Stock cars and two Pro Stock Motorcycles and just one measly dragster. Now Schumacher will add a second Top Fueler to his already immense arsenal of vehicles competing on the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series. Maybe now Schumacher’s insatiable appetite for expansion might take a break. At least until next year.
