New Funny Car Bodies…A Breath of Fresh Air

The recent introduction of the Dodge Charger and Ford Mustang body styles to go along with the already race proven Chevrolet Monte Carlo is a welcome change in the world of NHRA POWERade funny car drag racing. In recent years the body styles had begun to resemble spaceships more so than production vehicles. They were often described as “wedges designed to cut through the air with bubbles placed on top to accommodate the drivers’ compartment.” Coming from a background centered around funny car racing I, along with many others was disappointed that the creativity had been lost from the newer body styles.
