NASCAR Hall of Fame to Charlotte?

Recent newspaper reports indicate that NASCAR’s Hall of Fame will go to Charlotte, instead of Atlanta, Daytona or Kansas City. At Wednesday afternoon’s paving press conference, Lowe’s Motor Speedway’s president and general manager H. A. “Humpy” Wheeler indicated that he fully expects Charlotte will get the nod. “How can they put it anywhere else?” he asked the media present, admitting he has no more inside information than anyone else present. In spite of the apparent lack of information, it is widely suspected that representatives of NASCAR and the France family, who control the sanctioning body, will be in Charlotte Monday or Tuesday next week. Hmmmmm….

Paving Begins at Lowe’s Motor Speedway

Repaving has begun at Lowe’s Motor Speedway with local media invited to witness some of the first of the “leveling course” pavement being applied in the $3.5 million project. The layer is the first of over 20 million pounds of special polymer mix asphalt.
