Dodge Driver Quotes-Infineon Raceway
June 25, 2006
Thanks to the Dodge teams, here are notes and quotes from several Dodge drivers following Sunday’s Dodge/Save Mart 350. Ryan Newman finished second to victor Jeff Gordon. Newman was the highest-finishing Dodge driver. “I wish we could have won the race, but at least we had ourselves in position. We got our second top five of the season, and I’m ready for Daytona. The red flag hurt me a little bit. I’m a little sore. I was quicker than Jeff Gordon at the start of the day. He was quicker at the start of a run, and I was quicker at the end of a run. It was the end of the run, so Terry blocked me and held me up a little bit. He did what he needed to do, and I’m happy we finished second.”

The win was Gordon’s first for the 2006 season. Labonte drove the No. 96 Chevy to give the new team a more experienced road racer than the usual driver, Tony Raines.

With the upcoming O’Reilly NHRA Midwest Nationals outside St. Louis upon us this weekend I can’t help but to think back to 2004 when the drag racing world was forced to say goodbye to Darrell Russell.
