Dodge Notes & Quotes - Pocono
July 23, 2006
Kurt Busch finished second to rookie and dominant Denny Hamlin in the Pennsylvania 500. here, thanks to the Dodge PR crew, are notes from the Dodge teams:Busch: “It was a good effort from our team. I was just told from our PR director that we didn’t have a pit stop that was out of the 13-second bracket. That was phenomenal to have that consistency in the pits and to be able to gain a spot when we didn’t quite pick the right strategy each time we came in. It was a nice, balanced effort. We really had to go off our setups from last time, and that really made it a Denny Hamlin charity race.”

Corporate America wants to be affiliated with the teams that are proven winners and therefore those team owners are able to build somewhat of an empire in their specific genre of racing. There are definitely two sides to the coin of this dilemma and I intend to shed some light on facts supporting both sides.
Hamlin Undefeated at Pocono

Denny Hamlin added a big footnote to his short NASCAR NEXTEL Cup career by becoming undefeated at Pocono Raceway, dominating the Pennsylvania 500 for his second win from pole at the triangular track in the Pocono Mountains. Hamlin led 151 of the 200 laps in the race, defeating Kurt Busch by 1.481 sec at the finish. The win moved the rookie to eighth in the point standings, giving him his second win in only 26 races. Tony Stewart came back from an early race penalty to finish seventh and first-time entry Stephen Leicht drove to a 33rd place finish after starting 36th. Chad Chaffin’s qualifying time was disallowed and he was replaced in the starting field by Jimmy Spencer.

Bernstein, Hight and Line take the poles at Schuck’s Auto Supply Nationals.
It’s just too darn hot. With so much of the nation struggling through a heat wave, it shouldn’t surprise anyone that normally temperate Seattle is topping the charts as well. The tuners are having a heck of a time going from hot, thin air in Denver to hot, heavy air in the Space Needle City.

What’s the best spectator value in racing today?
In this writer’s opinion, it’s most likely the weekly Legends Car shows at Lowe’s Motor Speedway, Atlanta, Texas, Las Vegas and other tracks.
