Bourdais Fastest In Montreal Friday Qualifying

Sebastian Bourdais was fastest in today’s first round of qualifying in Montreal in the Bridgestone presents the Champ Car World Series Powered By Ford. Meanwhile, Simon Pagenaud was fastest in the Yokahama Presents the Champ Car Atlantic Series Powered By Mazda.

Kurt Busch drove the No 2 Dodge to pole position for Saturday night’s Food City 500 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup race. Jeff Burton, lately a hot qualifier will start next to him with Bobby Labonte heading a resurgent Petty Enterprises pair in third while Kyle Petty will start eighth in the other Petty Dodge.
New Rule Directed Squarely at Don Schumacher Racing

The NHRA announced this week a new rule effective immediately concerning the amount of race teams an ownership group can field. Clearly this rule was initiated in response to the intense growth that Don Schumacher Racing has experienced over the past few years. The rule clearly states that no ownership group can own more than four vehicles in one professional class. To this I say, ‘it’s been a long time coming and it is about time’.

In a teleconference held for the national motorsports media on Wednesday, the National Hot Rod Association previewed the lucrative Skoal Showdown featuring the best Funny Car drivers over the past year. Hosted by one of the most widely recognized voices of professional drag racing, Bob Frey, the teleconference included a question and answer session with four of the eight participants. Tommy Johnsons Jr. Gary Scelzi, Ron Capps and John Force we all on the call and fielded questions not only from Frey but the members of the national motorsports media.
