Harvick Grabs Glen Gold
August 13, 2006
Kevin Harvick overcame cautions and a stuck fuel vent tube to win the AMD at the Glen over Tony Stewart. A race record ten cautions slowed the race to nearly three hours’ running time as yellow fever struck for 22 of the 90 laps. The race was headed by 11 drivers, dominated by Kurt Busch, who led 38 laps, ten more than Harvick. Busch’s race was cut short by a pit road penalty when he continued into the pits for service after the “pits closed” light came on with him only a few feet from the commit line. The penalty sent the No. 2 Dodge to the back of the field where he became involved in a crash.
