Cool Breeze: Teams Hit the Strip in Minnesota
August 11, 2006
Schumacher, Force, Anderson and Ellis are Friday night provisional low qualifiers in Brainerd.
The race is really on: with only a few events left in the NHRA season and many classes pretty tight in the points spread, it’s time for some pedal to hit some metal. The drivers and tuners are also probably happy to see weather statistics like Minnesota’s 86 degrees and 45 percent humidity rather than some of the recent scorchers they’ve endured.
Kurt Busch Sweeps Road Course Poles for 2006
August 11, 2006
Kurt Busch, fresh out of his pole-winning run at Infineon Raceway, NASCAR’s ‘other’ road course, repeated the feat Friday at Watkins Glen International. Joining Busch on the front row at Sunday’s green flag will be Kasey Kahne, with Ryan Newman, Busch’s teammate at Penske Racing South, starting inside the second row. Greg Biffle will start at the rear of the field after crashing in the esses on his qualifying run.

Kubica DQ’ed, Villeneuve Leaves BMW Sauber
August 7, 2006
In a pair of press releases, BMW Sauber F1 Team announced that Robert Kubica’s Grand Prix debut was spoiled by wearing away too much rubber off his intermediate tires. The wear resulted in the young Polish driver’s car weighing just two kilograms under the mandated minimum. A second release announces that effective immediately, Jacques Villeneuve and the team will part company. Kubica replaced Villeneuve in the Hungarian GP after vague complaints by the Canadian concerning headaches following a heavy crash in the previous race.
