What a day for excitement in Pennsylvania. With outstanding racing conditions at the Toyo Tires NHRA Nationals in Reading, we have a new national ET record and speed record in Pro Stock and a national ET in Pro Stock Motorcycle. We also have some cars understandably pushing envelopes and ending up in the sand pit.

Burton Outlasts Kenseth at Dover

Jeff Burton led only the final six laps at Dover Sunday after moving around a dominating Matt Kenseth with only six laps left in the race before Kenseth ran out of fuel a couple of laps later and dropped back to tenth, a lap down at the finish. The win gave Burton an unofficial six point lead in the Chase for the NEXTEL Cup championship over Jeff Gordon, who finished third, behind Carl Edwards.

Some amazing runs moved the qualifying position chess pieces all over the Texas Motorplex today; I had to wait until the very end of the last round to know for certain who’s on the trailer home and who is in the show.
