Brazilian GP: Out With The Old, In With The New
October 22, 2006
The Grand Prix race from the Interlagos circuit from Sao Paolo Brazil was somewhat of an anticlimax today. Felipe Massa swept to an uncontested win from pole in his home city and country, with Fernando Alonso securing second place and the driver’s championship. With the surprising Jenson Button in third place.
Jimmie Johnson Eases the Pain of Martinsville
October 22, 2006
Jimmie Johnson held off Denny Hamlin’s challenge to return to an emotional Victory Lane at Martinsville Speedway Sunday. Two years ago, Johnson scored his first win at the oldest track in NEXTEL Cup racing on the day an airplane crash took the lives of ten Hendrick relatives and employes. Bobby Labonte gave Petty Enterprises a third place, the team’s best finish in five years, followed by Tony Stewart and Jeff Gordon in fifth.

Post-Race Q&A with Top Three Drivers
October 15, 2006
Thanks to NASCAR, here is the transcript of post-race question and answer with Jeff Burton, Jimmie Johnson, Kasey Kahne, Ray Evernham and winning team owner Ray Evernham. Kahne won the race in dominant fashion, leading 134 of the 334 laps, earning a purse of $305,889 for the victory. The race started out almost appearing as out-of-balance as Friday evening’s Busch Series race, but eventually settled down. There were ten cautions for 52 laps, with an average speed of 132.142 mph. Thirteen different drivers swapped the lead a total of 34 times.

Kasey Kahne swept the points races at Lowe’s Motor Speedway for 2006, heading Jimmie Johnson by 1.624 seconds, point leader Jeff Burton finished third, Earnhardt fourth, Labonte fifth. Kyle Busch came home sixth, Tony Raines, Carl Edwards, Joe Nemechek and Brian Vickers filled out the top ten finishers. Jeff Burton held his point lead in the Chase, unofficially 45 seconds ahead of Matt Kenseth. Kevin Harvick should be third, then Mark Martin, Dale Earnhardt Jr, Denny Hamlin, Jimmie Johnson, Kasey Kahne, Kyle Busch and Jeff Gordon, after a blown engine, dropped to tenth in the Chase. The win is Kahne’s seventh career victory and sixth for the current year.

Ferrari At Interlagos: Will They Or Won’t They?
October 14, 2006
With not much newsworthy happening in F1 and a week before the final race of the year, I thought I’d give our readers something to chew on in the meantime. To wreck or not to wreck. That is the question at hand for all F1 fans. Whether Ferrari is to suffer the slings and arrows of racing fans scorn by “helping” Michael Schumacher win his eighth and final driver’s title. Or take the far nobler course and run the race for all its worth whatever may come?
