Helio Castroneves starts on pole for Sunday’s St. Petersburg Grand Prix in sunny Florida. Helio benefitted from a smack-up during the “Fast Six” portion of qualifications by Tony Kanaan, who posted the day’s best time on the street course; but by rule will be moved to no better than sixth on the grid for the start.

Whether you love him or hate him, you have to agree that Don Schumacher has made an incredible impact on the modern day landscape of the NHRA and professional drag racing. He has won five (four in Top Fuel, one in Funny Car) NHRA POWERade Championships as a team owner and is the owner of seven race teams in all four of the NHRA’s professional categories. In Gainesville, Fla. at the AC Delco Gatornationals, Don Schumacher Racing completed a nitro sweep by winning in both Top Fuel (Tony Schumacher) and Funny Car (Ron Capps). Earlier in the week Don Schumacher was inducted into the International Drag Racing Hall of Fame. In this interview Don Schumacher discusses everything from his future plans for his racing operation to his induction into the International Hall of Fame to his reaction to Eric Medlen’s testing accident that occured on March 19, 2007.
