Reaction To The Passing Of Eric Medlen From Around The NHRA

Many of us were shocked and stunned to hear or read the news that NHRA Funny Car driver Eric Medlen suffered a catastrophic accident while testing his Ford Mustang the day following the completion of the Gatornationals in Gainesville, Fla. Friday, Eric Medlen passed away as a result of those injuries to the shock and dismay of not only the fans that followed him and the sport of NHRA POWERade Drag Racing but his fellow competitors and rivals. Compiled herein are some reactions from those in the drag racing community that knew Eric Medlen and were competitors with him in the NHRA.
Services For Eric Medlen To Be Held in Indiana
March 26, 2007
Funeral services for professional race car driver Eric Medlen, 33, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday (March 28) at Connection Pointe Christian Church, 1800 N. Green Street, Brownsburg, Indiana. In addition to Wednesday’s services, there will be a viewing from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the same church.

While medical personnel at Shands at the University of Florida medical center continue to monitor the progress of injured Funny Car driver Eric Medlen, team sponsor BP/Castrol announced Thursday the creation of a special e-mail address at which well wishers can leave messages of encouragement for the 33-year-old drag racer.

Medlen Has Craniotomy; Remains in Critical Condition

Injured NHRA Funny Car driver Eric Medlen survived a delicate, three-hour craniotomy procedure to relive pressure and hemorrhaging Tuesday evening but remained in critical condition Wednesday at Shands at the University of Florida medical center. Over the next two weeks, the 33-year-old will remain in a drug-induced coma designed to promote healing.
