Breaking news….John Force in accident at Texas Motorplex
September 23, 2007
John Force and Kenny Bernstein made contact with each other and the wall during Funny Car eliminations at the Fall Nationals in Ennis, Texas.
Bernstein is out of his car, alert and appears to be fine.
Force is conscious, awake and alert, talking to the medical crew, but is going to be air-lifted out of the Motorplex for observation and evaluation.
Bernstein crossed the centerline, so will DQ and Force won this round. Since Force is being air-lifted out, however, his next opponent will probably get a bye (that means Tony Pedregon would move onto the finals, if I interpret the rules correctly.)
More news to follow as soon as I have it….

Rumor Mill: Charlotte Track to Have Four Lanes
September 22, 2007
File this one under the heading of “a little birdie told me” but I am hearing rumors that the proposed drag strip at Lowes Motor Speedway will be four lanes instead of the standard two lane track. If this rumor holds true this could be huge for drag racing and the expansion of the sport. Four lanes instead of two lanes would mean that drag racing TV coverage could go live instead of tape delay.
