Kasey Takes Coke 600
May 26, 2008
CONCORD, N.C. – Kasey Kahne had a nearly perfect month of May at Lowe’s Motor Speedway, getting voted into the Sprint All-Star race by fans going on to win the million-dollar special race last Saturday evening, then taking the measure of the rest of the field in this Sunday’s Coca Cola 600 race, leading second-most laps in the 400-lap test and beating out Greg Biffle by over ten seconds at the finish. A look back at ALMS Utah Grand Prix
May 25, 2008
The American Le Mans Series finally returned from a long break, moving from the streets of Long Beach to the huge road course at Miller Motorsports Park in Utah. I finally got a break in my schedule to finally fire up the TiVo and get a look at the action.
The biggest news on the front end of this race is the return of Gil de Ferran to major American motor racing. The soft-spoken Brazilian and his French-phenom-co-driver, Simon Pagenaud, brought their brand new Acura LMP2 prototype out for the first time, and did a spectacular job.
Busch Wins Rowdy Carquest 300
May 24, 2008
CONCORD, N.C. – Kyle Busch continued his domination of the NASCAR season at Lowe’s Motor Speedway’s Carquest Auto Parts 300 Saturday evening, leading the most laps in the race and winning under caution when a green-white-checker finish got interrupted by Mike Wallace’s crash on the last lap. Busch led 86 of the 200 laps, nearly three times the total of David Ragan, on his way to the victory. Denny Hamlin finished second, with Brad Keselowski third, Dale Earnhardt Jr and Brian Vickers finishing the top five. Read more

Double Clutchin’-Why The Mainstream Media’s Racing Coverage Sucks
May 23, 2008
Okay, folks. I’m in full fan-mode right now, and I’m angry; so let’s pull out the ranting gloves and go a few rounds with the mainstream media. Why? Because I’m sick of the way that they have covered the racing landscape the last few weeks, and I’m sure that I can’t be the only one.
Let’s start with NASCAR, shall we?
I’ve made no secret that I’m a Junior fan. So, since that prejudice is known, I’m going to try to use facts and stuff to back up my argument, so here we go: Read more
Contest Update
May 21, 2008
We have two winners in the FastMachines Indy 500 giveaway!
The top prize winner got 10 of 11 correct as I had to toss out question #7. Technically there are 90 faces on the Borg Warner Trophy but my use of the phrase “given to the ‘500′ winner” was cause for everyone to answer “zero” since the actual prize given to the winner is a “Baby Borg” that does not have faces on it. Also, for quesiton #6 I was looking for M. Schumacher as the driver with the most wins (5), but accepted Penske as well since he’s the top Owner winner (14).

The Argument Against Charlotte
May 20, 2008
It has taken me a few days to digest the travesty that was the Sprint All-Star Challenge, but I think I am finally ready to write about it. The problem with people like me, who actually have to digest things, is that there is very little left unsaid at this point.
First of all, kudos to Kasey Kahne for winning. Especially when his two teammates had such a poor showing in the Sprint Showdown. Don’t you wonder, though, how a guy who got in through the fan vote, especially a guy whose team really hasn’t done jack for the past year or so, can pull off an upset in the All Star Race? Read more

All Star Event… let’s change it up!
May 19, 2008
Not being a big fan of All Star events in general, and NASCAR’s in particular, the latest non-points race was a week off from the NASCAR Championship Season. In all other sports the top athletes are paired together in made up teams to go head to head against another all start team. In NASCAR you simply divide the teams into the successful ones and the also-rans. Read more
