They’ll Take It!

June 15, 2008

What a shame.

The Chosen One wins his first points race in more than two years, and it has to be a fuel mileage race at one of the most notoriously boring tracks on the Sprint Cup circuit.  Woo hoo, right?

Well of course, it’s a win!

Starts and Stops - Random Thoughts After Michigan

June 15, 2008

I have a lot of random thoughts that fly through my mind when watching the races week to week, and since my wife really could care less about my ramblings and outbursts while she is forced to watch the races, I thought that this would be a good outlet to get said outbursts off my chest.  I also think that we as Americans don’t have the ability or patience to read through a 5 or 10 paragraph story anymore.  We have become a “bullet point” society, and need instant gratification.  I’m jumping on that bandwagon.  Without further adieu, here we go! Double Clutchin’-The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly From Michigan

June 15, 2008

Hey, did anyone hear who won the race today?

If you didn’t, where the hell have you been?

The Lifelock 400 from Michigan gave Dale Earnhardt Jr. fans what they have been waiting on all year; a victory.  As the 88 crossed the finish line on fumes you could tell Junior was glad to have the monkey of 76 straight races without a win off of his back.  “Let em say what they want”, Junior joked after the win, alluding to the fact that there are sure to be many who will look at this race as a just a fuel race, a race in which fuel economy had more to do with Junior’s win than his driving did. Watch Out For The NASCAR Kid-Joey Logano Wins At Kentucky

June 14, 2008

That debate on whether or not a driver should be 21 to race in NASCAR?  After Saturday night you will find quite a few drivers who would second that motion, as 18-year-old Joey Logano won the Nationwide Series race at Kentucky Speedway, and he didn’t do it by luck alone.  He did it by getting out front and staying there, and after Kyle Busch crashed into the wall and was eliminated from contention, that proved to be all the luck Logano needed as he was never challenged for the lead. Petty Enterprises… new life?, or slower death?

June 12, 2008

I’ve questioned what was happening at Petty, now we know, at least in part. The Petty family has sold majority interest in their team to Boston Ventures. Barry Baker, managing director of BV, becomes Petty’s new chairman, and David Zucker takes over as CEO. Richard Petty says he will still have a hand in day-to-day operations.
If Boston Ventures is serious about this effort Read more

Double Clutchin’-What The Petty Decision Means For NASCAR

June 12, 2008

File this post in the “things that were going to happen sooner or later” category.

On Wednesday, Petty Enterprises became the latest race team to hitch their wagon to big business, with the Pettys giving up majority control to Boston Ventures.  This partnership will end 60 years of private ownership for the Petty family, and although the Pettys will keep some say in the business, the top positions within the company will be Read more

June 10, 2008

Don’t shoot me, I’m just the messenger, but get ready to hear a lot more about this story in the next few days and weeks, if any of the following claims turn out to be true. Mauricia Grant, a former technical inspector is suing NASCAR to the tune of 225 million and is claiming that there is rampant racism and sexism within the sport. According to ESPN: Read more

Maybe Busch Isn’t Superman After All

June 10, 2008

Kyle Busch avoiding the media after crashing is nothing unusual, but when he looks too downright weary to even make a smart-aleck comment, something is definitely wrong.  Read more
