Maybe Randy Moss Might Make It After All
July 30, 2008
I’ll admit it, I used to hate Randy Moss. There is something about narcissistic pro athletes that really bugs me. The sense of self entitlement, the smugness, the ego, it all drives me completely nuts. In the past, Randy Moss was the definition of the classic pro sports athlete. Read more
Still dumbfounded - but random thoughts come anyway
July 30, 2008
I’ll admit it, I’m still a little in shock from the race from Indy this Sunday…if you can call that 400 mile parade a race, that is. I debated even posting anything this week, I was so miffed at that debacle. I decided that like all good bloggers, I had the responsibility to join the millions of detractors and badmouth NASCAR in a public forum…ahh, this is what I love about blogging.
On to the thoughts after the “Allstate 400, Brought to You by the Color Yellow”: Read more

NHRA Needs To Be Proactive, Not Reactive
July 29, 2008
The Western Swing is in the books for another year and all anyone can still talk about is the shortening of the race distance from a quarter-mile to 1,000 feet for the Nitro cars. This major change to the way the NHRA conducts business was a direct reaction to the tragic death of Scott Kalitta on June 21, 2008. Although changes definitely needed to take place, the changes were too late to save Scott Kalitta. Sadly this has been a common theme of the NHRA reacting to tragedy rather than proactively preventing them. Read more
Day late… but what if NASCAR had done THIS!
July 28, 2008
The Allstate 400 was a complete debacle, because the tires wouldn’t hold up more than ten laps without blowing up. So NASCAR, in the name of safety, put a tire caution out every 12 laps. Read more
Double Clutchin’-The Ugly From The Brickyard
July 28, 2008
Sorry that this article was late. I blew two tires out while trying to get to a computer.
I’ll be at the Comedy Barn all week. This race gave me a million jokes, every one of them as bad as that one, and none of which are as bad as the Brickyard 400 turned out to be on Sunday. Good God, that was an abomination of a race yesterday. Probably the best quote that I’ve heard about the race was from Dr. Jerry Punch. Dr. Punch is on 990 am in Knoxville every week and he is always a good guest on the John and Jimmy show, and today he shared a couple of thoughts about how hard it was to do commentary for that race, and just how terrible the race was to watch. I had to laugh with this quote: Read more
Boogity… Caution… Boogity… Caution…, so much for racing!
July 27, 2008
The Allstate 400 at Indianapolis turned out to be one of the worse races ever. Somehow nobody noticed that the tire Goodyear had at the track was not able to hold up under the COT at 170 miles per hour. Read more
Live Blog: Brickyard turning into the suck-yard with 60 to go
July 27, 2008
With 60 laps to go the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard is turning into a joke. So far, the 2008 edition of the Cup race is showing just what a terrible race car this Car of Tomorrow is. The cars are wearing out tires in 10 laps, and NASCAR is doing the only safe thing they can do by throwing a “competition caution” every 10 or 15 laps.
I can’t imagine paying big bucks to go to the race today only to watch three hours of caution periods ( although it seems like a lot fewer customers the ponied up the bucks to watch the taxi cabs this year.)
This Kyle Busch Stuff Is Getting Out Of Hand
July 26, 2008
197 out of 200 laps.
You read that right. Kyle Busch led the Kroger 200 for 197 out of its 200 laps. If he were a baseball player someone would have hit him with a pitch by now. Right in the melon. That was his sixth Nationwide victory and Toyota’s 15th in 22 Nationwide races.
Guess impounding the Toyotas at Chicagoland and changing the rules in mid-stream isn’t showing results yet, huh? Read more
