Defending Champs Germany Score Sprint Race Win

A1 Team India’s Narain Karthikeyan drove the team’s baby blue and white Lola/Zytec into the record books on Sunday (December 16th) by finishing first in the Feature Race at A1GP Zhuahi, China.

The win was the maiden victory for the Indian team in A1GP competition.

New Zealand’s Jonny Reid took his team’s ‘Black Beauty’ racecar to second place, and South African Adrian Zaugg was third in the first of two race weekends scheduled for the 2007/08 season on Chinese soil .

The Sprint Race was won by Germany’s Michael Ammuermuller earlier in the day.

A1 Team USA’s Jonathan Summerton finished tenth, the last points-paying position, in the Feature Race; and was twelfth in the Sprint Race.

A1 Team Switzerland stretched its World Cup of Motorsport points lead to nineteen with the win over second-sitting France.

The next A1GP race occurs a month into the future: January 16-18, 2008 at Taupo, New Zealand.
