The Red Bull Air Race world series is a mad combination of speed and agility that is made possible by fearless pilots flying precision maneuvers in high performance aircraft. In this weekend’s Red Bull Air Race in San Diego, Nigel Lamb will be be the first of four pilots to compete in the new MXS composite aircraft in 2008.
The MXS will give Lamb a leg up on the rest of the field, but there is also added expectations on the British ace now. “I’m really looking forward to San Diego because of the new plane”, said Lamb. He added, “It’s going to be a very difficult race for me, because of a lot of attention, people will have a lot of focus on the MXS, because four other pilots will be having an MSX this year.” Lamb tested an MXS back on April 22nd in Scappoose, OR for Composite Universal Group. It will be a story to follow throughout the weekend in San Diego.
USA’s veteran, Mike Mangold is just happy to be back closer to home saying, “It’s close to my home, and I don’t have to travel 23 hours to get to the next race, so good for us, we’re back in the States for two races, we’ll look forward to that.”
Red Bull Air Race returns to San Diego, the home of naval aviation, on May 3rd and 4th.
