American Le Mans Series back in action at Elkhart Lake

The American Le Mans Series returns to action this weekend at Road America for a four hour endurance race, the Generac 500 presented by Time-Warner Cable. Joining the ALMS series this weekend are the Formula BMW, MX-5 Cup, Star Mazda, Skip Barber, and Cooper Atlantic series, so there will be a lot of track action this weekend, despite the fact that the now-defunct Champ Car Series will leave a hole in what was to be a double-header weekend.

The ALMS will be the only top level series for the weekend, but are running their race on Saturday instead of Sunday, which means that the TV coverage on SPEED TV will be tape delayed on Sunday. They should have moved their race to Sunday, and run it live on TV. This would have been good for the fans andthe series. Too bad they couldn’t make this happen. The ALMS has the potential to be a top series in the States, but needs to race more often, and be on live TV.
