Williams Confirm Webber
Written by Josh Katinger · July 28, 2004
In an expected yet almost retaliatory move, Williams have confirmed that Mark Webber will fill one of two race seats they have available for 2005. The announcement comes on the heels of the snubbing Williams received yesterday from Giancarlo Fisichella who passed over a Williams offer to join Renault instead.

The Williams team has been criticized for botching up the Fisichella deal, however I’m inclined to agree with George’s opinion that losing out on Fisichella isn’t a very large loss. I’m sure Sir Frank Williams has a huge pipeline of hot young driving talent waiting in the wings to take the second seat….right Frank? Frank?

So much for my speculation about him winding up at Renault! Time to re-tune the old crystal ball!!
