Cartwheels at CART HQ?

July 14, 2003

Certainly there is jubilation at the CART corporate offices over the new CBS broadcasting package for ‘04. As long as there is money coming in from the deal to help the old cashflow problem. A big step in healing some of the illness in the series.

Player’s no longer?

July 14, 2003

Player’s, a major tobacco sponsor of Canadien motorsports in general and more specifically of Paul Tracy’s Forsythe Player’s race team is being forced out of sports sponsorship in October ‘03. It raises the potential of Paul Tracy winning this years CART title without a team sponsor on the car! Even when he wins it seems poor Paul still looses!

Tracy trounces Toronto

July 13, 2003

Paul Tracy dominated the Molson Indy Toronto today in what will most likely be remembered as the defining win of his career. Mostly because it came on what is considered his home track. Paul’s mom and dad joined him in victory lane…

Local hero Tacy takes pole

July 12, 2003

Paul Tracy took the pole for the Molson Indy Toronto in his native Canada. In doing so he become the first driver since Jacques Villeneuve in 1995 to claim pole position on home soil.

Newman-Haas dominates

July 12, 2003

With Bruno Junquira on provisional pole and Sebby Bourdais fastest in Saturday practice, it looks very promising for the Newman-Haas team. You have to wonder what goes thru the mind of poor Bruno. Here he is expecting to have a championship year and this rookie team mate shows up and consistently wipes the track with him!

What would happen to CART if the boys from NASCAR decide to buy the series?

Cleveland Smash

July 10, 2003

According to all sources, (mostly CART) the weekend at Burke Cleveland Airport was a huge attendance success for CART. What were the TV ratings, Mr. Pook?
Without a sound TV financial package you will go the way of the DoDO.

Manning a model for the future

July 10, 2003

Darren Manning seems to be just what the doctor ordered for CART. A real racer without the attitude and arrogance. I don’t know who he paid to write this puff peice about him, but if Paul Tracy likes him…he MUST be cool. Too bad he isn’t in a more upscale operation where he can truly show his stuff and get some super results instead of the steady top ten results he seems to be capable of with Walker. For CART there is no shortage of good drivers, just fans and sponsors. Maybe more Darrens could help!

Who’s hot…..

July 10, 2003

Prerace favorites at the Molson Toronto Indy race. My bet is on the rookie sensation, Sebby Bourdais, pending his winning pole and the pit races. Toronto is a notoriously difficult place to pass, most gains are made in the pits.
